Canadian Classic: Bloody Caesar

You'll get a little education here today, I know I did when I looked this up...

You all know I love more salty cocktails than sweet, but they are far and few between. So, I hunted down this tasty little number. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, b/c I'm only going by what I have read.... this drink is a Canadian classic. From what I have read, be careful if you order it here in the states; it is often confused with the Bloody Mary. Many bars around here don't have the juice to make them. In fact, I've read bartenders here in the states will even ask you "Do you mean a Bloody MARY," as if you aren't really sure of what you are ordering. They'll often give you a Mary instead, as if you either don't really know what you're ordering or simply b/c they think you won't notice a difference. They are similar, but different. Any lover of Mary's or Caesar's can tell you they DO taste different. I could tell. Anyhoodle, you know me and my Mary's; I love 'em. This Canadian is flyin' right up there with them. So delish!

BLOODY CAESAR (from drinksmixer - there's even a video of a bartender making it. It's quick and easy! *** I just checked back on the video today. They changed it. It has a different bartender, which is pretty cool b/c each bartender I have seen make it in the videos adds their own special touch.***)

The Bloody Caesar Cocktail

sizzup.com

1 oz Vodka
Salt (about 3 twists on your salt grinder)
Celery Salt - for the Rim, though next time I think I'll try a cajun spice rim, just for kicks
Pepper (about 3 twists on your pepper grinder. I added a few extra b/c I like it peppery.)
1 dash Worcestershire Sauce
1 dash Tabasco Sauce (I added extra b/c you know I love the heat!)
Clamato Juice (This is right with the V8 juice at the grocery store)
Celery Stick - optional garnish

Rim a tall glass with celery salt. In another tall glass combine vodka, salt, pepper, Worcestershire, Tabasco, and Clamato juice. Pour back and forth in between two glasses to mix thoroughly. Finally pour into the glass with the celery salt. Plop in a celery stick and enjoy any time of the day.

If you want to know more about the Caesar, there's a blog I found where they are in search of the world's best Caesar at I Bloody Love it. The girl that writes it is so funny. I also added a new blog list on the side for other blogs that have cocktail time in mind. If you find one you like, let me know and I'll add it.

Happy Thursday! :)
